Sydney Day 3
Initially I had plans to join for a walking tour on this day and cover all important sights on foot. But on Day 1, I could cover some places like Circular quay, Opera House. So, I decided to do my own walking tour starting at Central. Folks can follow the same route if interested.
Walking Tour Map
I started early from Central and reached Darling Harbour first. It was still quiet and boats were still anchored. Sydney Sea Life aquarium is present in the same vicinity and could see many kids excited near the entrance. I gave it a pass and continued along harbour for some distance and followed map to go to Harbour Bridge walk.
The way is not properly marked, atleast till the bridge and I had to ask cab guys and cops to direct me to the right way. To enter bridge, some walk is needed and its not direct entry. At here, can do bridge climb , top of the tower for a fee. The walk along bridge is free though. The walk provides different view of the Opera House and Circular Quay. I went to the other side of the town and returned .
Then I made my way towards the Rocks and to the circular quay. Boats depart to Manly Beach from here and so are whale watching boats, long distance ships. I took a detour and went to Royal Botanic garden first and rested for a while. Then went to Mrs. Macquarie's chair which is again one of the vantage points. I then came to Opera House and went inside . There was an on-going event and I just explored the entrance part and could see the interior view which was shown as recorded video.
I had option to go to either King Cross Station or back to the central. I had plans to visit Ikea too. When checked in maps, there was a train to the nearest station to Ikea and I decided to skip King Cross and then left in train from Circular Quay. I got down at St.Peters station and took a bus to Ikea. I thought it will be in similar lines as in the US, but was disappointed with overpriced items. I decided to just settle for a chocolate and left to the Hostel. I dumped my camera gear, backpack in the hostel and went for a walk to the Target and Coles. Bought few items and returned with packed dinner. I packed everything and went for a movie again in the hostel post dinner. It was easter week and there were celebrations in all churches in the vicinity. There was one more place I had not visited. It was China Town. I went late in the night and just strolled a bit there. I came back and crashed on bed.
Next day I left early to the Airport from Central station and finished all the formalities at the Airport. The flight was on time and had layover at Kuala Lumpur. I reached Bangalore close to 11 PM.
